Hand Stamped Initial Charms with 14k Gold Rims - Family Necklace

Insert Your 14k Gold Initials Here

This week I'm highlighting one of my favorite trends in personalized jewelry - initial charms!  My career in jewelry making began by learning to stamp and finish initial charms and pendants with gold rims on them.  I then proceeded to branch out into designing more customized items.  However, I still adore initial and monogram charms for their juxtaposition between classic and modern design.  They are timeless pieces that can be worn everyday.  Check out my family jumble necklace below.  Each initial is for one of my kids, and the heart is for Andreas and me:

Today's Design Idea - Mix and Match Design

Have you ever seen anything on our website and thought "I wish I could take this element and combine it with something different than what is pictured?"  Well, that is exactly what a customer did with her custom bracelets!  She combined our little 1/2" heart charm with our wire charm bracelet and a flush set diamond to make beautiful high school graduation gifts for her daughter and her friends!

At Metal Pressions, we can create truly custom pieces of jewelry for you.  Just ask! We love hearing from you!

Trendy Tuesday - Colored Diamonds

Shine on you colored diamond!

It's Tuesday and I'm ready to talk trends!

This week I want to touch upon colored diamonds. Of course everyone is familiar with traditional white diamonds, but if you want your custom jewelry to have a more modern, chic look, you should consider colored diamonds.  They are available in almost every hue of the rainbow - perfect for those looking to match wedding, graduation or bat mitzvah color themes. Colored diamonds are a great substitute for birthstones too, as they are much more brilliant and all around better gems.  Take a look at some recent pieces I made with these beauties:

Trendy Tuesday - Hello Yellow!

Warm up your Fall wardrobe with 14k yellow gold

As I was dropping the kiddos off for their first day of school last week, it dawned on me that Fall is just around the corner - even if it is currently 96 degrees in Savannah... As the temperatures begin to fall, consider the change of seasons as the perfect time to warm up your wardrobe with 14k gold jewelry!

Gold jewelry was prominent in the 2015 Fall Fashion Shows in Paris and New York; it complimented the darker greys, greens and reds that were all over the runway.  We use a warm color of gold called Hamilton yellow - it has has a deep vintage look as compared to some of the very bright yellow golds you may see.

14k Personalized Gold Cuffs & Bracelets

These will become your standard, never-take-it-off, "how did I ever live without this piece of jewelry" bracelets.  We offer lots of arm candy!  9mm gold cuffs (perfect for both men and women), slender 5mm cuffs, skinny cuffs, wide bangles and skinny bangles all are great for layering!

 14k Hand Stamped Gold Charms

I love the versatility of our 14k gold charms - you get to design every aspect to make a one-of-a-kind charm to fit you perfectly!  This includes text, font, size, shape, layout and necklace length. Knowing the necklace I'm wearing is unique to just me means a lot - I won't see someone else wearing it in the grocery store!

 14k Earrings

Don't forget a little ear BLING to complete your outfit!

Trendy Tuesday - Stack 'em up!

How do you stack up?!

This Tuesday I want to highlight one of my absolute favorite trends - stacking and layering jewelry.  There is an art to pairing and layering the right pieces and I've got a few tips for those who may be perplexed on where to begin.

Tip 1: Go for a graduated effect.  Pair delicate, dainty short necklaces with a long jumble necklace.

Tip 2:  Don't be afraid to mixed metals and textures. Gone are the days when you have pigeonhole yourself into one of two categories: gold wearer or silver wearer.  Wear them both! Mixing metals is a simple way to look effortlessly modern and chic.  Create contrast by wearing different textures.  I love to pair my 14k gold hammered and sterling silver satin bangles.

Tip 3:  Dress up your digits by adding slender stacking rings to your right hand ring.  At the moment, I'm pairing three 14k gold skinny stacking rings (one to symbolize each of my children) with my 3mm 14k right hand anniversary ring.  Andreas gave me this ring with a secret message inside to commemorate our 10th wedding anniversary.  This right hand combo is a modern, stylish counterpart to the traditional wedding ring and band on my left hand.

Tip 4: Pair long, delicate earrings with petite studs.  I find our 14k solid wire hook earrings accentuate the curvatures in my jawline and the 14k star stud adds a little fun pop!

August Birthstone - Peridot

14k gold peridot cabochon

I cannot believe that it is already August - the summer is winding down and the kids go back to school next week!  Where does the time go?!

The birthstone for this month is Peridot.  Here are some fun facts about the August birthstone:

1.  It is one of the oldest known gemstones dating back as early as 1500 B.C.

2.  Peridot has also been discovered in fallen meteors and it has also been discovered on Mars and the moon in olivine form.

3.  Most gemstones are formed in earth's crust, but peridot is formed much deeper in the mantle region and brought to the surface by volcanoes.

4.  Peridot is believed to have healing powers and protect from evil, depression and fear.  It is said to bring the wearer inspiration, strengthen the effect of medicine and improve one's speech.

5.  Peridot is also the official gem of the 16th wedding anniversary.

On a side note, August is one of my favorite months because it is a return back to routine from summer days.  We are hitting the ground running in the studio and have some very exciting things in the works.  Stay tuned...
