A bride and groom exchange rings on their wedding day, but many couples also exchange gifts the night before or the day of their numptuals. These gifts are often items that can be worn or used on their wedding day or upcoming honeymoon. Most importantly they should be a metaphor for the marriage; timeless and built to last. Here are a few sentimental yet functional gift ideas for the groom that celebrate the first day of the rest of your lives:
Cuff links and tie clips are items he can wear on the wedding day and for all of your future special occasions. Keep them classic on the front for future use, but add a personal note on the back that marks the wedding day - every time he puts them on he will be reminded of walking down the aisle.
While the money clip is not something he can visibly wear on the wedding day, it is a very functional option and great for the guy who isn't into jewelry. He can use this item on a daily basis for years to come.

Recently, one of our long-time employees, Shannon, moved on to pursue another career. While we were excited for him, it was bittersweet to part with someone who has been with us from nearly the start. How do you convey your appreciation to a person that committed themselves to working at a small family business? Just saying the words can be nice, but may still lack the impact that matches their service. To thank Shannon properly, we followed the advice we so often give our customers; giving a gift that you take the time and effort to thoughtfully design will stand the test of time. We wanted something that would remind Shannon of how grateful we are for the years he spent at Metal Pressions. After some brainstorming with the team we decided a money clip was the perfect item.
Money clips can be the ideal gift for many occasions, and like our recent recommendation for Key Chains, are great for people who are fashion averse. We chose to create a simple design on the front with our new soldered 14k gold letters. We added a touch of subtle sophistication with a black diamond beside the initial of his last name. On masculine designs we lean toward a clean bolder look.
The back of a money clip has the real estate we needed to add a longer personal message. We hope that every time he takes it and looks at it or just feels the impressions, it brings a smile to his face. The money clip came out perfect and the back says it all.
When you dedicate your life towards a goal and then, through hard work and dedication, achieve that goal you have good reason to celebrate. Two years ago that's just what Stacy V. did when her husband developed a drug to combat Cystic Fibrosis. Stacy wanted to incorporate the chemical compound into the design of 14K cufflinks. At first glance the design might seem simple with small letters and simple shapes made of straight lines, but turning that into a stamped image that looks good can be quite challenging. We took great care to make sure we created a stamping tool that would be clear and accurate to the original image. The result was exactly what Stacy was looking for.
As all well accomplished and successful people tend to do after an achievement, Dr.V continued his efforts working toward developing more life saving drugs. Two years later he passed another major milestone and developed a second life saving compound. Stacy approached us again to memorialize the new compound in another set of cufflinks. This time around the design was substantially more challenging. While we can't comment to the chemical complexity, from a visual standpoint the image was more detailed and much wider. To fit that design on the cufflinks we had to use a slightly larger round charm and scale the image down. Scaling the image down required that we paid meticulous attention to the tooling design. Some of the characters and lines in the design were smaller that the smallest fonts we use to stamp. In addition to that some characters were a fraction of a millimeter apart. As with the first time, our attention to detail paid off with a faithful recreation of the chemical compound on the cufflinks.

Running a small business takes a lot of focus. Andreas and I work hard every day to make great jewelry and grow our business. We are constantly presented with challenges from the fabrication to the business management. It takes a lot of gumption and fortitude.
Often my plate is full with just the creative work and Andreas will deal with escalated situations that may arise from time to time. I am always amazed at his resilience under pressure. While I am sure my support plays a big role, I know he is quick to credit his background in Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu as foundation for much of his success. If you saw the way they trained, you would understand why. He even met one of our first employees through training.
For the past several years Andreas has been training at a Relson Gracie Academy in the Savannah area. Mr. Gracie is the eldest son of the late Helio Gracie, the man credited with refining traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu into the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu we know today. Relson Gracie was the Brazilian National Champion for 22 years and has continued the development of Jiu Jistu in his father’s footsteps.
Today Reslon still dedicates his life to Jiu Jitsu and travels the world teaching his art. A couple of times a year Relson comes to Savannah to teach seminars and work directly with his students. On one of his visits we made him a custom Dog Tag Necklace to show our appreciation. The silver charm has Relsons Initials and a re-creation of his logo. The triangle is 14K gold. On the back is a thank you note and initials so he knows who it’s from.
Relson was elated to get such heart felt gift as a thank you. We hope to make some more great items for him in the future.
