When people accomplish goals, they like to commemorate them. LaRita chose to accomplish sobriety and celebrate her achievement with a very meaningful pink gold pendant. We thought that this was such a wonderful accomplishment that we just had to share it and congratulate LaRita!
She reached out and showed us an image of two T's surrounded by a square (see below) and told us that she would like the image on a rose gold square pendant and a date on the back. The date signifies her soberversary (sober anniversary). The Tt symbol is one used for "teetotaler" (a person who never drinks alcohol).
After she placed her order, we created an illustration of the image on a rose gold pendant with the date on the back for her to review and approve.
Upon receiving her necklace, LaRita told us that she "LOVE LOVE LOVES IT... It makes her cry!! Thanks again for ANOTHER wonderful custom piece... YOU ARE THE BEST!!"
Thank you LaRita for the kind words :) We are so glad that you love it!
Warm up with 14K Gold this Fall!
As I touched on a few weeks ago in my Trendy Tuesday post, yellow gold was all over the Fall runways this year. But why stop at yellow?! I think all the colors of gold are perfect compliments to Fall fashion colors and runway trends - yellow, rose, white and green. To be fashion forward, try mixing up the colors to create a visually appealing design that pops!
One great way to mix gold for a family necklace is to have each pendant in a different color. I like rose gold for my daughter, yellow gold for my oldest son and white gold for my middle boy. Pictured above is an example of what one mom designed for her children's pendants. She went with green (yes, we have 14k green gold!), yellow and rose gold flat bar pendants in varying sizes, and a beautiful satin finish to complete the design.
Another customer not only went with different colors of gold for her kids, but included a cutout star on one and a different finish for each pendant which makes for a really eye-catching piece. Contemporary Solitaire Diamond Ring
John knew his fiance wanted something unique for an engagement ring. She had been showing him pictures of various styles of "twig branch" engagement rings, but hadn't fallen in love with any. She liked the organic shape but didn't want the bark texture. She wanted a contemporary setting, but with a lower profile, smooth transitions, and a 1 karat center diamond. After creating a rough sketch for her approval, we hand carved the ring in wax. With her final approval we cast the ring in 14K rose gold and set the GIA certified stone.
This one of a kind ring has a non-traditional open bezel. The lower profile setting means there are no prongs to snag on; a specific concern they both had for their active lifestyles. There are lots of amazing engagement and wedding rings out there, but this client chosen to mark the start of a new chapter in life with a one of a kind ring.
What started with a nature inspired twig ring concept and then simplified the details to meet our customers visions. The result is a non-traditional engagement ring shape and setting.
The open sides of the bezel let in plenty of light to highlight the brilliance of the stone.
John was thrilled with the process and result. "You completely blew away my expectations. From the process to the final result I couldn't have been happier. I was always confident that Metal Pressions could make me an incredible engagement ring, but the way they interacted and executed truly impressed me" - John B.
Adding raised accent shapes is a great way to add more depth to your charms. For those of you that want to go a little beyond the simplicity of a single name on a charm, these accents fill vacant space well without making the design too busy. This set of charms is a great example of using a few different shapes and sizes of 14K sunburst, moon, and star accents. We worked with this customer showing her several shapes, sizes, and color options. After a few previews she selected the version that mixed the colors and used the clean simple Block and Cap Subcap fonts.
